German troops fell back from the Gustav Line to the Hitler Line (known as Senger Line at this time) even if they knew that it was only a mather of time befor even these positions would have been abandoned. Polish and Canadia troops assaulted the Line on 23 May and in few days the Senger Line was breached. The Line was breached on May 24 by 1st Canadian Infantry Division, 5th Canadian Armoured Division and the II Polish Corps.

Le truppe tedeschesi ritirarono dalla Linea Gustav sulla Linea Hitler (conosciuta in questo momento come la Linea Senger) anche se già sapevano che era solo una questione di tempo e sarebbero state abbandonate anche queste posizioni. Le truppe polacche e quelle canadesi ataccarono la Linea il 23 maggio e dopo pochi giorni la Linea Senger era caduta.La linea fu distruta il 24 maggio dalla 1° divisione di Fanteria Canadese, la 5° Divisione  Canadese e il 2° Corpo Polacco.
